Unapologetically You: How To Stay True In a Copy-Paste Culture
Becoming the Real You Is The Ultimate Mental Health Move

In this week’s journal, I’m sharing a powerful truth: pretending to be someone you’re not is mentally exhausting—and it’s time to stop. Let’s talk about how to stay authentic, how to trust yourself, and how to protect your peace in a world that profits off of your insecurity. We’re living in a world that’s constantly telling us who we should be… how to look, how to talk, what to post, what to wear and if we are any different than what is socially acceptable, then we’re CRINGE. Not only is this exhausting, it’s heavily affecting our mental health and confidence.
So today, I want to have an honest convo about why trying to “fit in” is costing us our mental health, our peace, and in some cases—our identity. Do you ever scroll through social media and feel like everyone’s starting to look well… the same? Same aesthetics. Same captions. Same energy. It’s this copy-paste culture where originality feels risky. But don’t confuse this with taking inspiration and making it your own- in today’s society, being different doesn’t show up perfectly on our socials so we are conforming to the greater need- the need to fit in and in turn it’s crushing our confidence one like at a time.
But here’s the truth: When you don’t stay true to yourself, you lose the very thing that makes you magnetic and DIFFERENT. You lose you. Pretending to be someone you’re not is mentally exhausting. It creates anxiety, burnout, and a constant fear of not being liked or being cringe. And let’s be real—when you’re not being yourself, even your wins feel empty. You end up performing instead of living. That’s not peace. That’s pressure. Authenticity isn’t just about expression, it’s about protection. Protecting your energy and your identity because being authentic is being confident and remember that confidence is a muscle we build daily, so showing up as your most true authentic self everyday, in turn is building your confidence.
So let me give you 3 ways to anchor into your true most authentic self—even when the world wants a version of you that thinks and looks the same as everyone else.
1. Unfollow, Mute, Delete🚫 If someone’s content constantly makes you question your worth or compare your life—mute it, unfollow it, protect your peace. You curate your digital world and when you do it with intention it leaves you feeling empowered and not feeling less than or not good enough.
2. Check in with YOU, not them☑️You have style and originality, don’t look around for their approval, wear what makes you feel good, post what makes you happy and always speak your truth.
3. Normalize not fitting in💥 Some people won’t get you. Good. We love that for us. You weren’t made to blend in—you were made to stand out. Let people misunderstand you if it means staying authentically you.
You don’t need to copy someone else to be successful. You don’t need to water yourself down to be accepted. And you definitely don’t need to sacrifice your mental health for a few likes or fake friends. You are enough—unfiltered, unedited, and fully YOU.
So let’s stop performing and start living. Because the most powerful thing you can be…is yourself.
